This page was created to provide accurate and up to date information on all of the rats involved in the FHR breeding program.  Foundation rats are rats who were adopted as breeders and whose offspring have started the FHR breeding programs.  Under FHR Litters, you will find a listing of every rat ever born at FHR.  I will also be updating the NARR with this information, but since many pet owners do not have access to NARR, this page is essential.  Nonproducing/Pet Only rats are NOT listed here, however, their information is on the My Rats pages, the RIP page, and shared with their original breeders. 

As a breeder, one of my key goals is the breed the healthiest rats possible.  When health problems are identified, it is my job to figure out a way to breed out the problems while continuing the good traits that exist within a line.  This is a long term goal that can only be accomplished through dedication, hard work, and careful placement and tracking of all animals born.  Necropsies of all breeding animals will be done to attempt to pinpoint the cause of death.  If you are an adopter, be sure to keep me updated on the health status of your rat throughout its life, as well as informing me when the rat passes on.  This will help me to breed rats who live longer, healthier lives.  Some pet adopters have also decided to have necropsies done on their FHR ratties, which is something I greatly appreciate and helps the breeding program immensely.
